Spaceship Earth Trivia

Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia

It’s another Tiggerific Trivia Tuesday hosted by Jodi at Magical Mouse Schoolhouse, Mike at My Dreams of Disney, and Heidi at Heidi’s Head.  This is one of my favorite blog hops because I get to learn about cool facts about Disney related topics.  I like to keep my Disney topics in the parks.  I took a look at The Haunted Mansion last week.  This week, I’m going to take a monorail ride over to EPCOT and look at the iconic Spaceship Earth.

Lots of the little known facts about Spaceship Earth aren’t little known any more.  However, I found something out about the post-ride area of the attraction that I didn’t know about.  I even had a parent who worked for one of the companies who could have taken advantage of this little known fact and perk.

There is a VIP Lounge above the post attraction area where employees of Siemens, the attraction sponsor, and the guests can go.  This small lounge is curved (it still is in Spaceship Earth – it’s hard for something for NOT to be curved) and overlooks the park.  Siemens employees have been able to enjoy this perk since Siemens took over the sponsorship of Spaceship Earth since 2005.  Before that, AT&T employees, the previous sponsor, and their guests could use the lounge.  When the attraction was unsponsored, the lounge was used for weddings.

EDIT: A reader, who is an employee at Siemens,  provided me a link to a blog post that he wrote talking about his experiences with this area

Re-Imagine, Refurb, or Leave Alone

Today, I’m introducing a new game to the blog.  It’s a twist on the game of Fast Pass, Just Pass, or Stand-by that I played with the Enchanted TikiTalk Podcast last week.  I’m calling my version: Re-imagine, Refurb, or Leave Alone.  Re-imagine is where you completely change the attraction.  Refurb is where you keep the attraction basically the same but find a way to bring the ride more up to date.  Leave Alone is self-explanatory.  You just leave the attraction as it is.  I will give you three choices per park and you choose one attraction to re-imagine, one to refurb, and one to leave alone.  Let’s play the feu…..Re-imagine, Refurb on Leave Alone.
