Walt Disney World is open every day of the year (barring weather emergencies). School is open, in the US, for most of the year. Odds are, if you plan a Walt Disney World vacation, there is a good chance that you need to pull your children out of school to attend. Disney kind of ensures this by making major vacation times (summer, Christmas, Spring Break, President’s Day Weekend) more expensive than other times of the year. Airlines are to blame as well by charging higher fares around these breaks. Just from an affordability standpoint, it is easier to pull your children out of school and take them to Disney while school is in session. Some schools and administrations take a dim view to this. So here are some strategies to “help your case” if confronted.
EPCOT’s Food and Wine Festival is one of the most popular time of year for EPCOT. Vacationers and Orlando locals, alike, flock to the theme park to enjoy the international cuisine offered by the festival. This year’s festival is the longest on record starting on August 31 and ending on November 13. The festival is filled with special demonstrations, concerts, along with more than 50 booths scattered through the World Showcase and now into Future World. All of these events bring lots of people. What are some good ways to avoid the crowds and get the most out of the festival?
I returned from Walt Disney World on Sunday and one of the highlights of the trip was my evening at Hollywood Studios. Hollywood Studios is undergoing a massive transformation with addition of Star Wars Land and the expansion Pixar Place. Even with this transformation, there are still enough attractions and events to keep people in the parks all day.
I am someone who does not like Halloween. I don’t like dressing up. I don’t like buying candy and giving it out to the neighborhood kids. I use just put it in a bowl and leave it on my front step. However, at Disney, that all changes. I’ve been to two Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Parties. I dressed up for one. I didn’t for other because it was too hot to be in costume. Disney, in my opinion, does a great job with the Halloween party. They turn Halloween into a fun event compared to all the work I have to put in at home to make Halloween enjoyable.
It was reported, last night, by wdwnt.com along with other Disney news outlets that the Main Street Electrical Parade will be making its last run down Main Street at Walt Disney World on October 9th. No word on what will be replacing the night-time parade at the Magic Kingdom.
A version of the Main Street Electrical Parade will be making a “limited-time appearance” at Disneyland starting on September 5th when Paint the Night parade ends it’s run there. September 5th also marks the return of the original World of Color show at Disney’ California Adventure. This will replace the current 60th anniversary show currently running.
