Walt Disney World and School

Walt Disney World is open every day of the year (barring weather emergencies).  School is open, in the US, for most of the year.  Odds are, if you plan a Walt Disney World vacation, there is a good chance that you need to pull your children out of school to attend.  Disney kind of ensures this by making major vacation times (summer, Christmas, Spring Break, President’s Day Weekend) more expensive than other times of the year.  Airlines are to blame as well by charging higher fares around these breaks.  Just from an affordability standpoint, it is easier to pull your children out of school and take them to Disney while school is in session.  Some schools and administrations take a dim view to this.  So here are some strategies to “help your case” if confronted.

How To Beat the Crowds at the Food & Wine Festival

EPCOT’s Food and Wine Festival is one of the most popular time of year for EPCOT.  Vacationers and Orlando locals, alike, flock to the theme park to enjoy the international cuisine offered by the festival.  This year’s festival is the longest on record starting on August 31 and ending on November 13.   The festival is filled with special demonstrations, concerts, along with more than 50 booths scattered through the World Showcase and now into Future World.  All of these events bring lots of people.  What are some good ways to avoid the crowds and get the most out of the festival?

Ode to the Citrus Swirl

Adventureland in Magic Kingdom is home to two of the best frozen snacks at Walt Disney World: The Dole Whip and The Citrus Swirl.  The Dole Whip is the favorite for most people.  Me?  I’m in the minority.  I love the Citrus Swirl.  I love most things with orange flavoring.  To me, it just tastes great.  Let’s take a closer look at the Citrus Swirl.
