Kill, Refurb, Marry Blog Hop – Food & Wine Edition

Today, I’m participating in a blog hop run by Mouse on the Mind and The Happy Place Blog.  They have a monthly blog hop called Kill, Refurb, and Marry.  They choose a Walt Disney World topic where participants choose something to kill (get rid of completely), refurb (fix up in someway), or marry (enjoy completely).  With the Food and Wine Festival going on all of October, this month’s topic is booth menus at the Food and Wine Festival.  I spent some time over the summer ranking the menus at the Food and Wine Festival which I’m using as a basis for this article.  So, here we go!

Food and Wine Festival – Must Eats

I would love to go to the Food and Wine Festival every year if possible.  Things don’t always line up for me, however, but I do make it just about every other year.  This year is one of the years that I will not be attending the festival :(.  I miss it by about a week.  I still like to follow the news of the festival.  What’s being added?  What’s leaving the festival?  What new foods are coming in?  The festival really enhances the feel of the World Showcase with new countries coming in – even if it is only for a brief time.  I’m not an adventurous eater but I do enjoy the festival and what it brings.  Over the years, I have found some Must Have dishes on the menu.

This is REALLY Good! – #WordlessWednesday

This week, on #DisneyWordlessWednesday, we are taking a look at food that looks REALLY good.  I went back and looked at some of the foods that I experienced at last year’s Food and Wine Festival that either my wife or I enjoyed.  All of these were REALLY good.

EPCOT Food and Wine Festival Menus Released And Ranked

Earlier this week, Disney released the full menus for the Food and Wine Festival booths.  The festival runs from September 19 to November 10 for a total of 53 days – the most ever.  It is one of my favorite events that Disney has during the year.  This year, however, I’m missing by about 10 days.  Most people are displaying the menus in alphabetical order.  I’ve gone through the menus and have ranked them (in my opinion) from must-have to I’ll pass.  On to the rankings!

Food and Wine News

Disney has released a lot of new information on some returning booths and some new booths for the 2014 Food and Wine Festival.

Four booths are returning for the 2014 Festival.  Africa, Scotland, Hawai’i and Terra will be returning for another go around.  Puerto Rico returns for the 2014 Festival after not having a booth in 2013.

What will I be able to sample at these booths?  Well, full menus have yet to released for any of these booths.  But what’s, AJ Wolfe over at the Disney Food Blog is suggesting could be at these booths.

Africa: A South African Bobotie with Turkey and Mushrooms

Hawai’i: Aulani Sunset with Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum

Scotland: Sea Scallop with Crispy Bacon and Spinach Cheddar Gratin

Terra: Blackened Chick’n Breast and Paperboy Red Wine

Puerto Rico has released a larger portion of their menu.

Papa Rellina – Crispy fried potato balls stuffed with pork and beef

Carne Guisada con Arrez Blanco – Braised Beef with Puerto Rican Rice

Medilla Light – beer

They are not the only booths to release some information.  Hops and Barley have announced a carrot cake with craisins and cream cheese icing.  While the Refreshment Spot could have one of the “must haves” of the festival….The Cronut (with or without ice cream).  The Bean to Bar area is going to have a drinkable chocolate item.  Block & Hans, a place that specialized in craft beer, will have two wines (a Chardonnay and Blanc de Noir.
