Welcome to the inaugural #DisneyMusicMonday Blog Hop. This co-hosted by me and Mike Ellis from My Dreams of Disney. If you have a blog and you are a fan of music, then this is the blog hop for you. Feel free to add your post by clicking the smiling frog at the bottom of the article.
With my inaugural post, I’m going to talk about Part of Your World from The Little Mermaid. Everyone who is a fan of The Little Mermaid knows that the movie won the Academy Award for Best Score and Best Song from Under the Sea. One of the other songs from the soundtrack is my favorite….Part of Your World.
It was written Alan Menken and Howard Ashman. Menken wanted a song which told a story like a listener would hear in a Broadway musical. The song is paced like a slower ballad so the listener can hear the inner-fight that Ariel is having about wanting to join the human world.
It was an overlooked song by the Academy Awards as it was not nominated for Best Song. Under the Sea and Kiss the Girl were nominated showing the depth of the movie’s soundtrack. However, it is a song that is not overlooked by me.
Thanks for joining on the #DisneyMusicMonday blog. I’ll be back, next week, with another quick look into the music of Disney.
