Welcome to this month’s Blogorail Orange Loop. Today we are sharing our reviews of the deluxe villa resorts at Walt Disney World.
Welcome to Bay Lake Tower: the only Deluxe Villa Resort where you can walk from the resort to the Magic Kingdom. This fact is the top-selling point for this resort. My family enjoys our Disney Vacation Club stays at Bay Lake Tower. We can leave the resort at 30 minutes before rope drop at Magic Kingdom and arrive in plenty of time for the opening show.
What else is there to love about Bay Lake Tower?
Theme Park view rooms: my family will be experiencing these rooms for the first time in just a couple of weeks. No worrying about getting a good spot in Magic Kingdom for Wishes. Just open the curtains and watch them from the couch or balcony. That’s a big plus.
Top of the World Lounge: Don’t have a theme park view room? Head up to the Top of the World Lounge for a great view of Wishes. This lounge is open to all Disney Vacation Club members and their guests. It has a a decent bar menu and a small (but tasty) food menu. A great place to arrive about an hour early, have a drink, and watch the Wishes.
How far is it to The Contemporary Resort?
Not very far at all. It’s an elevator ride to the ground floor or 5th floor and it’s just a short walk (5th floor is via the Sky Bridge) to The Contemporary. Bay Lake Tower does not have it is own counter service restaurant. It shares Contempo Cafe with guests staying at The Contemporary. The Contempo Cafe is one of my favorite counter service restaurants on property.
Bay Lake Tower is also just a short walk from Chef Mickey’s at The Contemporary.
Looking to start your Magic Kingdom day off on the right foot? Book an early breakfast reservation at Chef Mickey’s and then make the walk from Chef Mickey’s to the Magic Kingdom. A day doesn’t start any better than that!
So, great views of the Magic Kingdom, walking distance to the Magic Kingdom, and walking distance to great restaurants at The Contemporary. What else does Bay Lake Tower have to offer?
There are two little things that this deluxe villa brings to the table. The one-bedroom villas have the ability to sleep five adult guests. The villa has a king-size master suite to go along with a queen-size sleeper sofa and sleeper chair in the living room. Old Key West is the only other deluxe villa resort with the ability to sleep five adult guests in a one-bedroom villa.
These one-bedroom villas also come with two full bathrooms. This is a nice luxury for a larger group of adults or that child who wants to feel special and have a bathroom all to themselves.
The standard and lake views are still some of the best at Walt Disney World.

My brother just stayed here for the first time and loved it. I will say this: that second bathroom in a one bedroom villa cannot be more important to my family. We missed it terribly when staying at the Grand Floridian villas. Bay Lake is in the perfect location and the top of the world lounge is a great plus. Great review!
Thanks. Even our family of three enjoys the luxury of having two full bathrooms.
This is one of the few DVC resorts in which I haven’t yet stayed. It’s on my bucket list, though!
