Day two of the trip is where the travel difficulties of travelling with larger groups came to light. The goal was to meet at Hollywood Studios around 9:00. A majority of the group had Fastpasses for Star Tours starting around 10 am. The rest of the group had Fastpasses for Disney Junior Live on Stage. My wife, daughter, and I got to Hollywood Studios at the agreed upon meeting time. The rest of the group did not. We waited and waited and waited and waited for the rest of the group to arrive. They finally arrived at 9:45. We quickly, instead of leisurely, picked out Mickey Ear hats for the “first-timers” in the party to get monogrammed then headed our separate ways.
On my most recent to Walt Disney World, my daughter experienced Space Mountain for the first time. This was the last attraction in Magic Kingdom that she had gotten over her fear of. There are still some attractions that she still won’t go on. As the years and trips build up, however, there are fewer and fewer attractions that she won’t go on. She’s gone from a kid who wanted to do anything but wait in line to meet characters to a kid who wants to go attraction after attraction. For today’s post, I decided to interview her about her first experience on Space Mountain.
After we finished dinner at Crystal Palace, four of our 10-person group left to go back to the hotel. The remaining members stayed for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. For my family, this would be our second time attending the Christmas Party while, for the others, it would be their first visit.
For a good portion of the party, we were able to divide and conquer and everyone was able to go attractions that they wanted to go and see parades and fireworks shows that they wanted to see.
October 1st is a very important day in the history of Walt Disney World. It is a birthday for two of the four parks: Walt Disney World (opened October 1, 1971) and EPCOT (opened October 1, 1982). These parks helped make Walt Disney World into what it is today. A couple of years ago, my family lucked into having our vacation coincide with the 40th birthday of the Magic Kingdom. I wanted to take some time, today, to share some our experiences on that day.
After spending a refreshing afternoon along Stormalong Bay, my wife and I returned to our room and got ready for the Villains Unleashed party at Hollywood Studios. This was the centerpiece and reason we made this trip. My wife loves the Disney villains and we missed out on last year’s event. So when we found out about this year’s event, we jumped on the opportunity.
Our original plan was to take the boat over to Hollywood Studios and eat at the Hollywood Brown Derby Lounge before the party. However, mother nature got in the way. A strong, late August afternoon thunderstorm was on its way. It shut down the boat traffic between EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. We made the quick decision to walk toward Hollywood Studios. If we could beat the storm to Hollywood Studios, great, if not Plan B was to stop at Big River Grille and Brewhouse for dinner.
