My next Disney trip is coming up in a few weeks (mid-May) thanks to a random day off in my child’s school calendar. It’s going to be a trip of many firsts for our family. A lot of the firsts are because we, typically, travel in the fall and not the spring. It will give me a chance to experience some new things and give me a chance to blog about some new things at Disney as well.
Our Firsts
First Voyage on a Disney Cruise
This is the centerpiece of the trip and what the trip is built around. We are starting out slow with just a three-night cruise: Port Canaveral-Nassau-Castaway Cay-Port Canaveral. We are passing on going into Nassau so we can spend more time exploring the boat with lower crowds when most voyagers are in Nassau.
At Castaway Cay, we reserved a cabana so we will get to experience one of those for the first time as well. Expect lots of pictures from the boat and Castaway Cay after we get back to shore.

EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival (aka Spring Food & Wine)
My family has plenty of experience with the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival since we travel in the fall. However, we have never experienced it’s spring cousin – EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival. From what I’ve seen in other posts over the years is the festival has moved from flowers & gardens to more of a spring food and wine festival. Still it will be a new experience for us.
Pandora – The World of Avatar
We will be getting a preview of Pandora – The World of Avatar before the area opens on May 27, 2017. We jumped on the opportunity to get a preview when they became available to DVC Members or Annual Passholders. A great chance to experience this area with lower crowds before the area opens to the general public. Again, expect a lot of pictures from this area.
A Night in Fort Wilderness Cabin
In order to visit the Flower & Garden and Pandora – The World of Avatar, we needed to extend our trip by a couple of days. So, we thought this was a perfect opportunity to stay someplace that we haven’t stayed before – Fort Wilderness in a cabin. A resort that we’ve never stayed and a unique experience to boot. Camera will be getting a work out here as well.
