Welcome to this month’s Magical Blogorail Orange loop. Today we are discussing the best Disney resorts for couples.
Most people think of Walt Disney World as a place for a family vacation. Walt Disney World can be a place for a couple to get away for a weekend as well. There are many great resorts at Walt Disney World to choose from and at a variety of price points depending on the budget. This article is going to focus on the Yacht Club resort. My wife and I, in August 2014, stayed at Yacht Club while our child was visiting her grandparents. It was a fun and relaxing weekend. What can a couple expect out of the Yacht Club resort?
Location
Yacht Club is in the EPCOT Resort Area. This is an excellent place to stay. Guests are within walking distance of two theme parks: Hollywood Studios and the International Gateway entrance to EPCOT. Guests are also just a short bus ride away from the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. There is easy access to both the Boardwalk area of shops and restaurants as well as easy walking access to the Swan and Dolphin Hotel and the Fantasia Gardens Mini-Golf Complex.
Restaurants
Yacht Club is home to one of the best restaurants on Disney property in my opinion….Yachtsman Steakhouse.
Located right next to Yachtsman Steakhouse is the Crew’s Cup Lounge for those looking for a less formal experience. Many fine restaurants are also just steps away at the Beach Club, Boardwalk, and Swan and Dolphin Resorts. Those looking for a more international dining experience can venture into the World Showcase at EPCOT. The walk is about 10-15 into the World Showcase so it will be easy to burn off those calories consumed at your meal. )
Pool Area
Yacht Club has one of the best pools on Walt Disney World property as well at Stormalong Bay. This is a vast pool area, over three acres, with a long slide for the adventurous and most of the pool has a sandy bottom. The pool has has a lazy river area for those who just want to float along while everyone else is enjoying the rest of the Stormalong Bay area.
And for those looking for a quieter experience, there are three quiet pools located throughout the resort.
Rooms
Since Yacht Club is a deluxe resort, the rooms are bigger compared to the moderate and value resorts. Disney continues the nautical theme in the rooms as well.

The nautical theme continues throughout the resort as well.
In closing, Yacht Club is a fantastic resort for couples who are looking for a gateway vacation but still want to be close to the action while still having the opportunity to relax during their stay at Walt Disney World.

That pool has got to be the coolest pool on Disney property! I have never stayed at either the Yacht or Beach Club, but I should would love to someday. The restaurants at both resorts are great, and the atmosphere is so welcoming!
The pool area is large enough where you don’t feel like you are “overrun” by kids if you go down there without the kids.
My husband and I are planning a weekend getaway while the kids are at camp this summer. I think you have sold us on the Yacht Club. We will love walking to Epcot each night for dinner.
My wife and I never left the Boardwalk Area/EPCOT for dinner during our stay last year.
I’ve never stayed at the Yacht/Beach Club but I always try to schedule a meal there because it’s such a beautiful area especially with The Boardwalk and Epcot being so close!
I’ve always wanted to stay somewhere in the EPCOT resort area (because nothing says ‘adult Disney vacation’ like EPCOT), and although I’ve always dreamed of the boardwalk, the Yacht Club may have just bumped it off the top spot on my wish list!
The Boardwalk Resort is very nice but Yacht Club has a charm that Boardwalk can’t duplicate.
I have stayed there with the kids but you are right this would be the perfect getaway resort for an adults only trip.
Location, location, location! We often stay at Disney’s Yacht Club for its proximity to runDisney races, but also love it because it is a short stroll away from from adult events such as Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. Stormalaong Bay just can’t be beat for lazying a day away with your honey and Hurricane Hanna’s will put a Piña CoLAVA in your hand. Sounds like the perfect couple’s retreat!!
