Top 5 Frozen Treats at Walt Disney World

The springtime weather in Orlando and Walt Disney World has been on the unseasonably warm side.  To me, this is the perfect time to think of the top frozen snack that guests can find in Walt Disney World.  A frozen snack can help cool you from the inside and help you (along with shade and hydration) from keeping things like heat exhaustion and heat stroke at bay.  Nobody wants to spend time during their Disney vacation at the First Aid station.

5. Grey Goose Citron Vodka and Lemonade Slush

Sorry, kids.  This snack is for the adults only.   It’s a tough call between this item and the Gran Marnier slush but I prefer the taste of lemon and lemonade over orange and rum so the Grey Goose Citron Vodka and Lemonade Slush wins out.  This treat does not stay frozen for very long.  On a hot day, it can quickly melt back into a mixed vodka and lemonade drink.  Since alcohol can have the effect of dehydrating a person as they drink, it is important to have a cup of water nearby in order to keep hydrated.

4. The Dole Whip

The Dole Whip and Dole Whip Float (pictured above) check in at number four on my list.  This highly popular snack ranks higher on a lot of people’s list but slips to number four on mine.  Personally, I don’t care for pineapple compared to the orange flavor of the Citrus Swirl.  Second, I’m not a fan of waiting in long lines for my snack.  The Dole Whip line can get very long at times.  These long lines forced the location of the Dole Whip to move in Magic Kingdom.  The Dole Whip can now be found where the Sunshine Tree Terrace was located.  As a result, the less popular Citrus Swirl has moved to the Dole Whip’s location.  This is to ease traffic congestion while walking through Adventureland.

3. Ice Cream Sandwich from The Plaza in Magic Kingdom

Plaza Ice Cream Sandwich

Another frozen treat that can have long wait times.  However, it is well worth it.  A scoop of your choice of ice cream between two warm chocolate chip cookies.  What’s not to love?  Personally, I go for a scoop of mint chocolate chip ice cream between the two chocolate chip cookies….it’s chocolate chip heaven.  The only way this snack loses points is because the snack can get very messy as the ice cream.  So, either stay of the sun or eat this snack very quickly so the ice cream does not melt.

2. The Citrus Swirl

Pictured at the top of the article.  The Citrus Swirl just tastes better, in my opinion, than the Dole Whip.  Add in the fact that the wait time is typically much shorter for the Citrus Swirl, it only pushes the Citrus Swirl further up the list.  I love the taste of citrus fruit especially when juiced.  It has a certain tang that I just enjoy.  Plus, I can sit down an enjoy my frozen treat while I watch more and more people pile up and wait for their Dole Whip.  A great snack to help cool you off and continue your day in the parks.

1. The Mickey Bar

Mickey Bar

An ice cream sandwich in the shape of Mickey head is the number one frozen snack on our list.  It is a must eat on a Walt Disney World trip.  Chocolate shell on vanilla ice cream.  It’s a snack that the young and the young at heart can enjoy.

This is my top five list and every snack on this list, except for the Grey Goose slush, can be purchased for a snack credit on the Disney Dining Plan.

Also, check out my Mouse News Minute as part of the Behind the Magic Podcast, the snack credit (roughly 15 minutes daily) of Disney Podcasts.
